Director: Ortal Mandil (art teacher).
Students produce practical art objects under Ortal’s guidance, using various materials, including perishables and recyclables, such as paper, cardboard, clay and stone. Equipment includes an electric pottery wheel and a kiln for firing ceramics.
This year’s projects included paper and cardboard shelves, mosaics, room signs, ceramic mezuzot, havdala sets and more. Students also produce decorations for the local school and other parts of the village.
Art is a tool of expression enabling youngsters to articulate their emotions and develop their fine motor skills. Each youngster connects to art in his own personal way, ultimately achieving a state of calm and peace of mind. The personal bond that students form with art often enhances their receptivity and encourages them to share their experiences with one another.
